PALO ALTO, Calif. – Sysorex (NASDAQ: SYRX), a developer of high performance analytics software and solutions, today announced it has secured an AirPatrol for Retail Properties managed services contract with a top mall operator.

Sysorex’s AirPatrol for Retail Properties product will be live in a marquee shopping center and provide detailed visitor analytics, including foot counts, visitor journey, length of stay, and other location-based information for the marquee shopping center.

“We are elated that Sysorex’s AirPatrol was selected after a very thorough and extensive evaluation process,” said Sysorex CEO, Nadir Ali. “In a market where there are a number of ‘me too’ companies ranging from start-ups to multi-billion dollar corporations all claiming to provide accurate and comprehensive indoor-locationing, the fact that AirPatrol was chosen is a real testament to the value of our technology and the ROI it provides our customers. Mall Landlords Embrace High-Tech to Entice Shoppers

WSJExcerpt from: The Wall Street Journal
Esther Fung

June 7, 2016. Shopping malls are going high-tech.

Making technology investments to improve customer experiences has traditionally been the domain of retailers, which have introduced robots, touch-screen mirrors and virtual-reality goggles to attract shoppers to their stores in recent years.

“We’re bringing the same analytics Amazon used to crush bricks-and-mortar retailers into the real world,” said Sage Osterfeld, chief marketing officer at Palo Alto, Calif.-based Sysorex.

The data analytics firm uses a real-time location technology that measures the number of visitors and their dwell times in various parts of the mall using Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and cellular data signals emitted by cellphones.

By tracking the cellphone signals in a mall, companies can study the paths visitors take as well as how effective display windows and in-mall advertising are in drawing customers.

This is similar to how Amazon.com is able to measure user engagement by how long cursors hover over a certain part of a webpage, said Mr. Osterfeld. The technology is able to distinguish between visitors and staff, and provides insight as to which storefronts are most popular and which retailers have customers that fan out to other stores in the mall.

For instance, Apple Inc.’s stores are a huge draw for shoppers, allowing the tech giant to bargain for lower […]

Sensing a radical shift in the way Canadians shop

TorontoStar

Bob Koblovsky, of Sysorex, was promoting new technology to help retailers track movements and habits of shoppers during the Retail Council of Canada conference.

California tech company introduces its ‘passive’ sensors, which pick up on Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and cellular signals to help retailers track shoppers and shipments.

Francine Kopun, Business Reporter
Toronto Star, June 1, 2016

Imagine your trip through a shopping mall being tracked by sensors and that information – stripped of your personal data – being collected for mall owners or retailers.

“It’s understanding a consumer journey with a larger view of ‘How do I engage my customer?'” said Bob Koblovsky of Sysorex, the California public company marketing the service at the Retail Council of Canada’s annual conference, which began Tuesday.

The company is running a pilot project with a major mall owner in Canada and will soon pilot the program in a Canadian bank, said Kobvlovsky.

This is how it works: Passive sensors installed in the mall (or bank) pick up Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and cellular signals from personal electronic devices carried by shoppers, with each device represented on a computer monitor by a separate moving icon.

The installed sensors poll the environment every six seconds, quickly enough to give retailers the ability to send out a coupon to a customer with a loyalty app as they near a store.

Five sensors about the […]
